About Naneghat

Naneghat trek is quite simple and enjoyable, especially during the monsoons. While going through Malshej Ghat, we can easily get a glimpse of Naneghat after Tokavade.

General Information

  • District: Pune
  • Range: Western Ghats
  • Height: 2,461 feet
  • Grade: Easy
  • Duration: 1 day

The route is clearly marked with arrows painted on the rocks and passes through dense teakwood forests. After ascending the forest one reaches to the base of pinnacle of Naneghat plateau, known as ‘Nanacha Angtha’. The caves at the top were artificially made a long time back and served the purpose of a resting point for the traders passing through this pass.

Most of the parts, inscriptions and statues in the cave are destroyed, leaving it clinging to whatever is left. One can also see multiple water ponds and tanks around the place. However, only 1 or 2 of them are recommended for drinking water.
